Short Description:

Yeast β-glucan is an active polysaccharide with immune-enhancing properties present in the cell wall of Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Content Details

Product Introduction

Yeast β-glucan is an active polysaccharide with immune-enhancing properties present in the cell wall of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It is a high-molecular-weight polysaccharide with a three-dimensional helical structure, consisting of a β-1,3-D-glucan main chain and β-1,6-D-glucan side chains, with a CAS No. of 9012-72-0. This product is made from non-genetically modified Saccharomyces cerevisiae, through low-temperature wall-breaking and directional extraction to retain the natural activity of the polysaccharide, complying with China's GB 14880 safety standard.

Product Features

Natural Origin: 100% extracted from yeast, no synthetic ingredients, avoiding the risk of chemical additives;

High Safety: Verified by acute toxicity and long-term toxicity tests, LD50 > 2000mg/kg, meeting food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical-grade safety standards;

Easy Processability: 70% of the product is partially water-soluble, while 80%/90% of the product is fully water-soluble without precipitation, suitable for various dosage forms such as tablets, capsules, beverages, and gels;

High Immune Activity: The immune activity of yeast β-glucan is closely related to its molecular structure. Its branched structure is more easily recognized by immune cells than glucans from plant or fungal sources, thereby efficiently triggering immune responses.

Efficacy and Applications

Yeast β-glucan can activate key cells in the human immune system (such as macrophages, neutrophils, and natural killer cells), enhance the phagocytic capacity of immune cells and the efficiency of immune responses, and help the body more effectively recognize and eliminate foreign substances (such as pathogens). For people with weak immune function (such as the elderly, those in postoperative recovery, and people with long-term fatigue), it may help to auxiliary enhance resistance.

Mechanism of Action

After yeast β-glucan enters the human body, its helical structure prevents it from being hydrolyzed into monosaccharides such as glucose in the gastrointestinal tract. Instead, it binds to specific receptors, passes through the intestinal epithelium into the lymphatic system via endocytosis (or pinocytosis), and then enters the bloodstream from the lymphatic system to specifically bind to macrophages, stimulating and activating immune factors. This enables a better way to reject foreign cells, prevent the invasion of external viruses, and thereby achieve the effect of improving immunity.

The unique three-dimensional helical structure of yeast β-glucan is the key to its efficacy, with specific action pathways as follows:

Immune Activation Pathway:The helical structure specifically binds to Dectin-1 receptors on the surface of immune cells (macrophages, NK cells, T cells), triggering intracellular signaling pathways, promoting the release of cytokines (IL-1, TNF-α, IFN-γ), enhancing the phagocytic capacity of immune cells, and improving the body's antiviral, antibacterial, and antitumor defense levels.

Metabolic Regulation Pathway:The viscous solution formed by high-purity products (70%/80%/90%) can adsorb bile acids in the intestines, reducing cholesterol reabsorption; at the same time, it delays gastric emptying rate, inhibits the rapid absorption of glucose, and auxiliary regulates blood sugar and blood lipids.

Antioxidant and Repair Pathway:The helical structure can scavenge free radicals in the body (with a maximum DPPH free radical scavenging rate of 49.94%) and activate erythrocyte SOD activity; at the skin level, it can promote fibroblast proliferation, accelerate collagen synthesis, and repair the skin barrier.

Product Applications

Food Industry

Functional beverages: Such as immune-enhanced bottled water and sports drinks;

Baked goods: Used in bread and biscuits to increase dietary fiber content;

Infant formula food: Enhances intestinal immunity of infants (in compliance with Chinese regulations).

Health Product Industry

Dietary supplements: Made into capsules/tablets for immune enhancement and postoperative recovery;

Probiotic compound products: Acts as a prebiotic to synergistically improve intestinal microecology.

Cosmetics Industry

Skin care products: Used in serums, masks, and lotions, focusing on anti-aging and skin barrier repair;

Personal care products: Used in shampoos and body washes to reduce scalp/skin sensitivity.

Animal Health and Feed

Yeast β-glucan is a highly effective natural immune enhancer that can enhance the non-specific and specific immunity of the body, inhibit harmful bacteria, improve animal health, and promote growth. It is widely used in animal breeding and feed fields.It has played a good role in disease prevention and treatment as a substitute for antibiotics, improving feed conversion rate and greatly reducing mortality rate.
